Lord Devon Casterbury has found a new vein of the dangerous gemstone Kaelinite, and the inventions that he 
patents are slowly seeping into Loxport; turning citizens into the very worst versions of themselves. And now, he’s 
set his sights on The Gilded Gear, a prestigious award that would give him the social capital (and the funds) to mould the city as he sees fit.
Ida Finn, along with her friends Edith and Clem, are hired by Professor Odessa Malko – and her protégé Della Ellis - to act as spies, collecting information that Malko and Della can use to persuade the citizens of Loxport to vote for their cause instead of Casterbury’s.
Ida must navigate the ‘charms’ of Loxport’s social scene – while dodging Lord Casterbury, crime boss Terry Powell, and a well-meaning but irritating automaton named A_09. But someone else in the city has his hands on 
Kaelinite, and it may tear the Clockwork Magpies apart before they can be of service to anyone…
